From Jiffy bags to pallets, cartons to a full lorry load, Aspray  Transport and Logistics offers a nationwide next day delivery service through its own network of depots, fleet and employees. Having just celebrated its 25th anniversary and a host of awards, Aspray is well aware of the advantages of good partnerships, both internally and with external companies.

An example of one such partnership is that between Aspray and Dawsonrentals. Having worked together for many years, Aspray has once again renewed their contract with the materials handling equipment division of Dawsonrentals to supply and maintain their entire fleet of Toyota forklift trucks. But the connections don’t just stop there. As well as speed and reliability of delivery, it is important that Apsray can monitor and protect the safety of their forklift truck drivers throughout their depots. With this in mind Dawsonrentals has provided 11 of its Toyota trucks with Lamerholm’s transmission protection (TP) system, designed to save tyres and protect transmission when operating forklift trucks..

The Lamerholm TP is a microprocessor-based control system that is packed full of features designed to protect transmission and save tyres, preventing operators from slamming the truck from forward to reverse above a pre-set speed and adjustable engine rpm. It also stops the trucks being used as bulldozers and limits fast starts. The system works by allowing the gearbox and drive train to be totally passive when changing direction. This protects the forklift truck from potential wheel spin and premature drive train failure. Its compact design means it can be easily hidden, if required and there is full anti-tamper and fault diagnostics built into the dashboard display. A green light shows when the driver is allowed to change direction and red warning lights have been built in to indicate an engine or speed signal fault. As well as the display, a buzzer will sound to alert the driver to any potential problems.

With such a winning combination it’s not surprising all three companies are going from strength to strength.
