In light of Toyota Motor Corporation’s 75th anniversary, Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) celebrates its past by discussing highlights from the companies' common history on its social media channels

Toyota is one of the largest and most respected organisations – and brands – in the world. At the foundation of this reputation: Sakichi Toyoda - a man with a dream. Some nine decades back, he revolutionised the Japanese textile industry with his invention of the automatic loom; a steam-powered machine that could detect a broken thread and stop. Since then, Toyota has helped transform the manufacturing industry around the world, from textile machinery and automobiles to electronics and materials handling equipment.

Employing more than 700,000 worldwide in its 15 corporations, including Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) to which TMHE belongs, the Toyota Group reflects the diversity of its activities. Across all Toyota industries, teams of dedicated people ensure that the principles of the Toyota Production System (TPS) and the values of the Toyota Way philosophy are duly applied and passed on from generation to generation. This is what accounts for Toyota Motor Corporation’s longevity and success as an automobile market leader for 75 years. Sharing the group’s tradition for continuous improvement (Kaizen), the company has constantly evolved together with customers. From the Model AA, going through the launch of Prius - world’s first mass-produced petrol-electric full hybrid vehicle - the automaker giant continues its way driven by the credo that “nothing is so good that it cannot be made better.”
