In January 2008, Konecranes signed a contract to supply four rubber tired gantry (RTG) cranes to the Russian cargo terminal OJSC Petrolesport in St. Petersburg. The RTGs will be delivered at the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the orders.

This is Konecranes' fourth RTG order from Petrolesport. Of the previously ordered 11 RTGs, 5 are in operation and 6 are being manufactured. Petrolesport is one of the largest stevedoring companies in the port of St. Petersburg and part of the Severstaltrans Group, a leading operator on the transport services market in Russia, the CIS countries and the Baltics. As container traffic is continuously increasing in Russia, Petrolesport is expanding its terminal in the St. Petersburg port.

The RTG cranes will be used for flexible and high capacity container handling. The 16-wheel RTGs have a lifting capacity of 50 tonnes and can stack one over five containers high and six wide plus a truck lane.

"We are very happy about this order as it shows that Petrolesport is satisfied with the product and our cooperation," says Aku Lehtinen, Director, RTG Cranes. "Konecranes RTGs have been very successful in the fast growing Russian container ports with 20 RTGs sold in 2007, and this order supports the outlook for continued success."
