World’s Top Port Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) ordered additional two 16-ton heavy duty forklift trucks from Konecranes recently, the two trucks will serve the SIPG Luojing Terminal, located in Baoshan District Shanghai. Following previously delivered three Konecranes heavy duty forklift trucks, totally six Konecranes heavy duty forklift trucks will serve SIPG Luojing Terminal.

Located in Luojing, Baoshan District of Shanghai, SIPGLuojing Terminalis located in the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Huangpu River.Boasting a network of waterway as well as railway distribution, the terminal is advantageous in terms of integrated transportation. It is a modern multi-purpose terminal which takes foreign trade break bulk handling as main businesses, and international containers, storage as well as logistics as supplementary activities.

With an overall investment of 2.5 billion RMB, SIPGLuojing Terminal is designed for an annual capacity of 12 million tons currently. It was put into operation in September 2007 and officially started in February 2008. Along the 2460-meter-long quay, there are 6 offshore trestle deep-water berthsranging from 30,000 ton to 50,000 ton with front water depth of minus 13.2 meters, and also 11 berths for transshipment ranging from 500 tons to 10,000 tons. And the total land area is 554,900 square meters.

The ordered two trucks by SIPG arethe 16-ton SMV16-1200 heavy duty forklift trucks. They are equipped with strong box-type chassis, compared to a conventional lift truck chassis, it features double torsional stiffness and higher strength, fewer stresses and strains, higher lifting capacity with no reductions at high lift heights, and strong tilt fixtures in both the chassis and mast. In addition, the trucks come with hydraulics that can sense the load and adapt the lifting power to the weight of the load. The lift truck provides maximum power only when really needed, consuming less fuel while reducing emissions and noise. Service intervals are longer (4000 - 12 000h). There is less wear and tear on components. It all contributes to a lower total cost of ownership.Furthermore, the Intelligent Electronic Machine Control (EMC)system, EMC Master, monitors the lift truck's vital components and functions. Its settings are programmable to adjust to your needs. It can be linked with Konecranes' TRUCONNECT remote data monitoring and reporting system. CanBus technology increases engine and transmission reliability.

“We are extremely pleased that SIPG should continue to show support for Konecranes products in such a demanding port environment, which is testimony to the durability of our products.” Said by Trevor Morris, Sales & Service Director of Business Unit Lift Trucks Northeast Asia.
