Truck-mounted forklifts have become indispensible in modern transport load handling, helping to save time and resources, whilst reducing product damage and manual handling risks. Now, more than 50 years since the launch of the first truck-mounted forklift the first all electric machine is being previewed at the Bedrijfsautorai 2012, RAI Exhibition Centre (April 17-21) in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The E-Generation truck-mounted forklift
While there will always be a large area of applications that will require diesel machines, specifically for night time operation and noise sensitive areas like warehouse applications, the introduction of the first electric truck-mounted forklift seems long overdue. The successful Hiab Moffett M-Series is now extended with a completely new truck-mounted forklift, the E-Generation.

Clean technology for both, indoor and outdoor use
The new E- Generation comes with all Hiab Moffett truck-mounted forklifts are renowned for - minus the CO² emissions and is ideally suited for both indoor and outdoor use. With exceptionally low noise levels, the all electric machine is designed for night time deliveries and operation in urban and semi industrial areas.

The first model of the new E-Generation, the Hiab Moffett E2 with a lift capacity of 1200 kg comes with the latest AC electric motor technology and all motors sealed to IP65.The hydraulic components are driven by a silent helical gear pump and all operator controls comprise of programmable electric steering with hand lever for forward / reverse drive via an electric throttle pedal. Boasting the latest lithium-ion battery technology the E-Generation excels with low noise levels and smooth performance.

A powerful machine with amazingly low energy consumption
Fitted with an on-board charger, the E-Generation machines are simply charged from any domestic plug socket when at the transport depot or trickle charged while mounted on the back of the truck / trailer. The state of the art lithium - ion battery system guarantees long operating hours with consistent performance throughout the working day.

The Hiab Moffett E-Generation is fitted with LED work lights and road lights and a modern digital display interacting with the CAN BUS wiring system.

"Clean, lean and powerful - the E-Generation has been designed for an outstanding long life cycle with reduced energy consumption, helping to protect the environment and providing maximum value for the investment," says Keith Quigley, VP Truck-mounted forklift Product Business, Cargotec Ireland.

M-Range or E-Generation - no compromise in reliability
The overall design and components make for low maintenance and maximum performance. The mast and reach forks of the E2 are based on the proven M2 models, as is the chassis and other components that carry over. "With exceptional durability and reliability, together with the guaranteed quality, this machine goes the extra mile in environmental responsibility," concludes Keith Quigley.

Pro Future(TM) on the back of trucks or trailers
The new E-Generation has undergone strict internal testing and evaluation as set by Cargotec and has been certified as a Pro Future(TM) model. Pro Future(TM) is Cargotec's own marking for products and solutions with less environmental impact. These products and solutions have passed certain industry-leading criteria regarding energy efficiency, the power source, emissions, noise pollution and recyclability. By investing in equipment with the Pro Future(TM) seal, you gain the ability to develop operations with improved sustainability while at the same time reducing your cost of operation considerably.
