As the grand final for the National Forklift Championship is only a few months away, Qantas Freight has come on board as the sponsor of the judges’ uniforms. Duncan Wyllie of Qantas Freight Marketing said: “Qantas was pleased to be associated with the event as it creates forklift safety awareness for all operators.”
 
New South Wales has a heat on 20 August at Regents Park, Sydney. To date there are 18 nominations with many more in the pipeline. The winners of this heat are eligible to participate in the grand final to be held a the Sydney Safety Show on 28 October 2010.
 
Canberra has scheduled a heat for the end of August. The venue has been secured, the forklifts confirmed and there are already 25 keen participants. This is the first time that Canberra has run a heat and there is expected to be strong competition from the contestants.
 
Heats in Melbourne, Brisbane, and a number of in-house competitions are planned, including one in Albury-Wodonga.
