“The economy may be on a recovery path, but uncertainties linger. Staff members are urged to remain vigilant.”
Doosan Chairman Y.H. Park made the request, saying, “Doosan has pursued a continuous growth through tireless challenges and ceaseless changes over the past 114 years,” in his commemorative speech for the 114th anniversary of the company to staff members. Chairman Park said, “We have a long way to go in order to become a truly global enterprise, rather than a superficial global company,” adding, “Now is a more important time than ever before.”
Chairman Park also said, “We will continue to push for strategic tasks, including growth through selection and focus, reinforcement of our internal competence in preparation for an economic recovery phase, and the establishment of financial soundness. The company will put priority on its advance into emerging markets, including India and Brazil, maximizing operating cash flow, and taking a preemptive response to the introduction of international accounting standards during the second half.”
A preliminary tally suggested that Doosan attained 1.0226 trillion won in operating profit with 11.5922 trillion won in sales during this year’s first half. The figures represent 19 percent and 359 percent gain, respectively, year on year.
The company projected that it would attain combined sales of 24.9 trillion won and operating profit of 1.8 trillion in overall performance for this year through the acquisition of large-scale thermal power plant projects in the Middle East, and a major turnaround of the construction and earthmoving equipment business.
Chairman Park also reemphasized corporate social responsibility. He said, “We will have to redouble our efforts to make Doosan more beloved and admired,” adding, “We will speed up our effort to conduct corporate social responsibility programs unique to Doosan.”
