Metal packing producer Impress has upgraded the materials handling equipment at its aerosol factory in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, with 15 counterbalance trucks and one pedestrian stacker from Jungheinrich.

The trucks replace a mixed fleet that had reached the end of its contract. The Merthyr Tydfil site has recently been upgraded with investment in a new production line.

Plant manager Paul Fox said: “Our company places considerable emphasis on continuous investment to develop the business at the Merthyr Tydfil site. We believe that the acquisition of this fleet of forklift trucks from Jungheinrich, will improve efficiency and enable a safer working environment to benefit both the staff and the business.”

Impress chose a mix of LPG and electric counterbalance trucks. The LPG trucks are from the TFG range and feature hydrostatic drive, while the three-wheel electric models (with twin coupled rear wheels) use AC technology. Each of the new models is fitted with Jungheinrich’s ISM management system to enable a range of truck performance indicators to be monitored remotely.
