Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA) is officially Australia's number one forklift company, securing over 30 per cent market share in calendar year 2009.
Australian Industrial Truck Association (AITA) official sales figures year-to-date December 2009 show TMHA sold in excess of 4,000 forklifts in 2009, over 20 per cent more than its nearest competitor.
TMHA also maintained its record of number one position in the Australian counter-balance forklift market, with strong sales of its Toyota 8-Series counterbalance models.
It has now led the counter-balance forklift market uninterrupted for 23 years.
More than one in every three internal-combustion forklifts sold in Australia in 2009 was a Toyota, representing in excess of 2,000 Toyota forklift sales.
TMHA also led the three and four-wheel battery electric forklift segments, claiming market leadership in both these categories.
Toyota was number one in forklifts in every Australian State except the Northern Territory, where it was number two in a total market of 150 forklifts.
TMHA President Steve Harper says the 2009 sales results show that Toyota is the most trusted name in forklift trucks.
"The year that just ended was a fantastic one for our company, especially the number one position overall in forklifts," he says.
"Overall, the results re-confirm the breadth and depth of the TMHA model range, the overall quality of the machines in that range and the effort we place into product support.
"TMHA offers Australia's most comprehensive range of material handling equipment. The success of our products begins with the parent company's industry-leading investment in research and development, coupled with a dedicated commitment to quality.
"Commitment is the key word - commitment to safety, quality, reliability and usability across the full range of material handling machines."
"These results for Toyota also reflect our nationwide branch and dealer network set-up, and the provision to our customers for outstanding sales, service and parts back-up."
