A new professional association has today been launched in Sydney.
The Australian Warehousing Association (AusWA) is fully incorporated and aims to service the warehousing and distribution industry which is a critical component in the supply chain.
Initially AusWA will work from a Parramatta office to operate member services and progressively move to other geographic locations.
There are numerous professional associations offering services to a number of supply chain sectors including those who encompass all aspects of logistics and supply chains.
The transport industries, road rail and sea all have industry bodies or associations working on member education needs and professional development.
A gap existed in the support of warehouses except for the refrigeration sector which is supported by Refrigerated Warehouse of & Transport Association of Australia Ltd.
There are a number of different personal membership categories from a fellow grading through to a studying student.
Every association needs supporters so companies working in this industry sector can pay annual fee, have their details and company profile recorded on the website and links to their company website.
October 2010 will be the month for the inaugural “Warehousing Today” conference in Sydney. The call for papers will be issued shortly and will again provide a very good source of quality information on trends in this industry sector.
The national forklift championship will be hosted in conjunction with the Sydney Safety Show and Material Handling Exhibition.
AusWA is proud to be one of the associations supporting this event which continues to grow in strength and popularity.
This association is affiliated with the international organisations, International Federation of Warehousing and Logistics Association IFWLA and the United Kingdom Warehousing Association UKWA.
