LINPAC Storage Systems has been awarded another major contract for its British manufactured storage equipment. Office supplies giant, Staples Inc, has selected LINPAC as its chosen storage partner for a new build distribution centre.

Staples UK Retail operates 136 stores throughout the country and is part of the Staples global business with sales of $18 billion making it the world’s leading office products business. Staples UK is consolidating two existing distribution centres into one larger facility. The 250,000 sq ft site is located at Watling Park, Daventry, adjacent to the M1 motorway.

Peter Scriven, Supply Chain Director, Staples UK Retail said “The competition was fierce for this contract with four very competitive bids from across the globe. We had two American and two European suppliers in the running alongside LINPAC Storage Systems, but we were delighted to be able to award the contract to a British manufacturer located within half an hour of the site.

“LINPAC has designed an innovative storage system for us which combines VNA racking with a multi-tier picking module feeding through to conveyors onto outbound. This storage system is integral to the benefits of improved pick accuracy, flexibility of storage and overall lower operating costs.”

He continued, “The contract has also been completed at real pace –there is a three month deadline from order to completion. With LINPAC’s manufacturing capability so close to us in Milton Keynes the fast track programme has worked very effectively with LINPAC working in a highly integrated way with the other contractors on site.”
