The Republic of Ireland’s biggest Merlo rental fleet was a major contractor in the build-up to the Oxegen 2007 rock festival, including their latest compact P 32.6 machine. Oxegen is Ireland’s largest rock festival and the 2007 event attracted over 80,000 revellers over the July 7/8th weekend. Although the Punchestown site (25 km Southwest of Dublin) had been deluged with rain over the preceding couple of weeks, a bevy of bands kept the fans happy (if a little muddy). Few will have thought about the army of workers who prepared the site for them. Clodalkin-based ME Plant was a major supplier with up to seventeen Merlo handlers on site at a time. “This was a huge effort for us” said Fleet Manager Deirdre Elliot “We had several cross-hired machines – all Merlo of course - as well as a good part of our own fleet out there.” Their brand new P 32.6 compact Panoramic was in the thick of erecting the main stage, along with its predecessor model, the P 26.6. ME Plant has been a Merlo user since 1995, with some 53 in their fleet, including 5 Rotos. The final comment from Deidre was “we haven’t looked back since we had our first Merlo!”.
