JLG has launched the RS series of telehandlers, updated its entire SkyTrack telehandler line and introduced a new reconditioning programme.

In the RS (Rental Spec) series, designed specifically for the Europe/Africa/Middle East (EAME) markets, the manufacturer is displaying the new 3614RS and 4017RS at ConExpo in Las Vegas, US, starting on 4 March. 

Brian Boeckman, JLG Industries global product director – telehandlers, said the machines were designed for the rental market by the rental market. “Operators will immediately appreciate the machines’ simple, comfortable cab, which includes single joystick controls, enhanced visibility from the cabin, and a mechanical suspension seat – all for enhanced comfort and productivity.”

The JLG 3614RS and 4017RS telehandlers have straightforward service and maintenance requirements; the cab can be cleaned by a pressure-washer before the machine is rented to another customer, while access to the external telescope cylinder and electronics located outside rather than inside the boom. A single compensation lift cylinder requires less service and fewer leak points, and ultimately lower cost of ownership and acquisition cost and the ability to transport two machines on one truck.

The JLG 3614RS and 4017RS telehandlers feature a 3600 kg maximum lift capacity and a 14 m maximum lift height and a 4000 kg lift capacity and 17m maximum lift height, respectively.

SkyTrack update

The SkyTrack 10054 and 8042 telehandlers shown at the JLG stand at ConExpo represent upgrades to the entire SkyTrack series.

One of the major upgrades is single joystick operation with pilot-operated hydraulics. The single joystick directs all functions of the main lift, telescope, and fork tilt, while the redesigned cabs include an added armrest, three-way adjustable suspension seat, and optional air conditioning for improved comfort.

The upgraded series also features improved boom speeds. Additional performance benefits include a Cummins 3.8L Tier 4F engine, providing the required horsepower while improving fuel efficiency and reducing the machine’s environmental impact.

A redesign of the rear counterweight, which now includes a retrieval hitch as standard, increases the versatility on the jobsite. There is also an improved breaking system and dash panel that provides better visibility of the instruments and controls. Most models feature the Stabil-Trak system, which provides fully automatic, rear axle stabilisation.

Reconditioning programme

The new telehandler reconditioning programme is an extension of JLG’s combustion booms programme.

The G10 telehandler is the first JLG telehandler available for reconditioning. It involves tearing down the machine, inspecting it, replacing components based on wear, reassembling the machine, and repainting it.

“JLG has very strict OEM guidelines that we follow for all of our reconditioned products,” said Todd Earley, JLG sales manager. “Our customers expect the same quality from a reconditioned asset as they get from a new machine.  Our scope of work is very detailed, and our reconditioning program is very similar to our new manufacturing program.  In the end, customers receive a machine that has the same reliability as a new machine.”

Mr Earley added, “We’ve seen an increase in demand for reconditioned assets, whether that be customer-owned or stock recons.  A lot of that is being driven by customers’ need to balance out fleets.  Now they have a better price point in the market, with a quality they would expect from JLG.”
