JCB has kicked off the year it celebrates 40 years of telescopic handler production with a massive order from one of the industry’s most prominent users of the machines. Nixon Hire is buying more than 160 market-leading Loadall telescopic handlers worth almost £9 million - in the year the company also celebrates its 50th birthday.

Delivery of the new fleet - which spans the four metre reach 516-40 Loadall through to the 17 metre reach 540-170 model - will take place over the next few weeks. The machines have been bought through JCB dealer Scot JCB.

Nixon Hire MD Graham Nixon said: “Nixon Hire is delighted to further cement its solid partnership with JCB with this large telehandler order. We pride ourselves in offering modern, technologically advanced products from market leading brands and JCB certainly meets this criteria. Having worked together successfully for many years, we know it’s a name we can trust to deliver a quality and reliable product to our customers.”

UK and Ireland Sales Director Dan Thompstone said: “2017 is a momentous year for JCB Loadall telescopic handlers as we mark 40 years of production of a machine which quite literally changed the materials handling market beyond recognition. We are delighted to start what is a milestone year with a fantastic order from one of our biggest UK customers.”

Nixon Hire has also confirmed its acquisition of the Nottingham site previously owned by Hewden. The multi million pound deal sees the company take ownership of the plant equipment and premises.

Graham Nixon added: “Many of the machines as part of this order will stock the recently acquired site in Nottingham. This new depot is in a prime location for Nixon Hire and falls in line with our plans for expanding our depot network further south. I can confirm that we will offer our customers products from each of our divisions to include plant, accommodation, toilet and welfare facilities.”

Nixon Hire is a leading provider of site equipment with core hire products including plant & tools, site accommodation and toilets. Established in 1967, it is a family run business which boasts 14 depots across the UK and one in Doha, Qatar. Its product range includes over 15,000 items from leading brands - all complying with the latest health and safety regulations. For items outside of the core fleet, Nixon Hire can source any additional equipment for customer’s site requirements via its specialist team Nixon eXtra and its chain of pre-approved suppliers.
