GOODNA'S Puna Ririnui is out to defend her title of Australia's best female forklift driver when she takes part in the sixth annual national championships in Brisbane next month.

The championships are a fun way for workers to brush up on their safety and technical skills while manoeuvring around an obstacle course.

Competitors are judged on how well they move around the course and will have points added or lost depending on how well they complete a task.

Some of the tasks including ensuring they get on and off the forklift correctly, correct hand movements and how well they can move stock around the floor correctly.

For Ms Ririnui, this is the second championship she has been a part of, after claiming the top spot at her debut last year.

"At my first championships last year, I was really nervous, but I made sure I concentrated hard on what I had to do," she said.

"I came away with the win, which I think was only by one point.

"I am hoping I can continue my winning streak next month in Salisbury."
