For the second year in a row, the 1500SJ telescopic boom lift from JLG Industries, Inc. was the gold winner as the top choice of contractors in Roads & Bridges magazine’s Contractor’s Choice Awards competition - aerial work platform (AWP) category.

“This award is particularly meaningful because the 1500SJ was selected as the best in its category by contractors rather than a panel of judges,” said Tim Morris, JLG Industries senior vice president of sales, market development, and customer support. “These are professionals who actually use our equipment every day and depend on JLG machines to complete their work safely and efficiently.”

The 1500SJ handles dual 1,000/500-pound loads and provides immediate access to work at elevated heights by lifting operators 150 feet. A 25-foot telescoping jib offers work envelope flexibility and additional outreach at elevation. Equipped with a fuel-efficient Tier 4 engine, the 1500SJ features three steering modes and exceptional terrainability. The boom is also easy to transport from one job site to another, thanks to a design that requires only a weight permit for highway transport in the U.S.

2014 marks the eighth year for the Contractor’s Choice Awards program, which was developed to recognize manufacturers for the superior equipment and products they provide to the transportation, construction and maintenance industry. The program includes 41 different product categories consisting of 124 gold, silver and bronze winners out of 263 different products nominated for the program.

This year’s winners were announced in the July issue of Roads & Bridges.
