EnerSys, a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, recently received approval from the California Energy Commission (CEC) on its High Frequency (HF) EnForcer chargers.

The line of chargers is one of the first to have been certified by CEC for meeting the recently implemented state standards for large battery charger energy efficiency.

Effective 2014, CEC certification is required for all large industrial battery chargers manufactured after 2013 and sold for installation in the state of California. Oregon has also adopted identical battery charger efficiency standards for large industrial battery chargers effective January 1, 2014. CEC efficiency certification is accepted for chargers sold in the state of Oregon.

The EnForcer chargers exceeded each of the five CEC efficiency standards for large industrial forklift chargers, including:

1. Maximum charge return factor
2. Minimum power conversion efficiency levels
3. Minimum power factor levels
4. Limits on maintenance-charge power use
5. Limits on power use when a battery is not connected to the charger

“EnForcer HF, HF IQ and HF Logiq chargers are renowned for exceptional charging efficiency and performance and for providing costs savings to customers. Now, with CEC approval, they will be well known for saving money even when they are not charging batteries,” said Steve Spaar, marketing director Americas for EnerSys. “We’re thrilled to have the official recognition from the CEC.”
