The Hamburg based company STILL GmbH and the producer creative agency melting elements were honored with the coveted Red Dot: Best of the Best award on Friday 18 October for the outstandingly good design of the iPad application STILL EASY. The prize for highest design quality was presented by Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot, at the Red Dot Gala in the Berlin Konzerthaus. The event was attended by 1,200 guests from the worldwide creative industry.

In the first round, an international panel of experts identified the best designs in the communications design area from among 6,800 entries that were submitted. The Red Dot award was presented to 575 entries, including STILL EASY. However, STILL GmbH and melting elements, a creative agency specializing in digital communications, outdid even this success with their implementation of the iPad app: STILL EASY was awarded the coveted Red Dot: Best of the Best prize. A total of 72 projects in the Red Dot: Communication Design 2013 competition received this coveted distinction, which is equivalent to just 1.06 percent of all the entries submitted.

The optimum combination of design and functionality together with an extremely attractive visual appearance were the decisive factors for the accolade. Stating their reasons for awarding the prize, the Jury said: “The STILL EASY iPad app impresses both with its reduced yet elegant design and by implementing a refreshingly novel concept using 360-degree images for the virtual presentations. At the same time, it allows various mobile devices with gyro sensors to view the products in a playful way.”

STILL EASY is a showroom for the briefcase, simultaneously combining an innovative marketing tool for STILL’s international sales department with a digital product experience for customers and potential customers. For example users can access a display of vehicles from STILL’s 46 model ranges, filtered in accordance with various requirements, and can experience these via product videos, high-definition 360° exterior views and interactive presentations. It is even possible to take a virtual seat in the driver’s cab, where you can look around by tilting the iPad display.

Matthias Klug, STILL’s International Corporate Communications Manager, says: “As far as the design and functionality of our products is concerned, we are proud to have been among the industry’s innovation drivers for many years. The award of this prize confirms to us that we are also able to supply STILL’s range of products and services to our customers in an equally innovative way.”

Steffen Kneist, Executive Director of melting elements, is also clearly proud: “By producing STILL EASY we wanted to create a design and communications experience unique throughout the industry, with the aim of addressing STILL’s customers and prospective customers in an extremely innovative way. The Red Dot: Best of the Best shows once again that we have reached this objective.”
