A recent EcoVadis survey places Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) among the top companies in its industry for its social, economic and environmental sustainability performance

Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) aims to offer innovative tools and services in addition to its fleet of forklifts and material handling equipment. To date, many TMHE customers are world leaders in sustainability with ambitious targets to meet, such as halving the carbon footprint or achieving zero accidents. In response to customers’ increasing demands for proof of accountability towards society, the economy and the environment, TMHE submitted its sustainability data to EcoVadis for evaluation.

EcoVadis is a trusted and reputed organisation that helps customers to monitor the sustainability profile of their suppliers across 150 sectors and 95 countries, and to make responsible partnership choices. TMHE ranks highly in the four assessment categories that are visible on the EcoVadis score card in the material handling sector: Environment, Labor Practices, Fair Business Practices, and Suppliers.

TMHE’s care for sustainable manufacturing, transparency and continuous improvement (Kaizen) can be traced back to its parent company, Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO). TICO published its first Environmental Action Plan in 1993 and its first Environmental Report in 1994 and has been leading the material handling industry in sustainability ever since.

“The EcoVadis Gold Level ranking reflects the commitment of Toyota sustainable development and its ambition to contribute to societies and the environment it operates in. This external seal of approval is a reward for our people who work every day to make TMHE’s products and services more sustainable. It shows our customers that we are taking the issue as seriously as they are,” says Tom Schalenbourg, Director Sustainable Development at Toyota Material Handling Europe.

TMHE is currently preparing the launch of its Sustainability Report, due for release later this month.
