Toyota Industries Corporation sets a new record: 44.4% share of domestic sales* and No.1 position in Japan (Jan-Dec 2012) for the 47th consecutive time

During the period of January through to December 2012, Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) sold 179,781 units on the global market, which represents 105% of the 2011 sales.
On the domestic market, the sales were of 115% compared to last year, with 31,366 units of both internal combustion and lift trucks sold. This is due to capital investment recovery in the manufacturing industry as well as the increased demands in transport, warehouse, construction, agriculture, forestry and fishery.

As a result, the company achieved 44.4% of market share, a new record making it Japan’s No.1 for the 47th year in a row since 1966.

The European debt crisis and the slow though steady progress of the emerging markets have affected overseas forklift sales and the material handling industry on the whole. However, TICO recorded positive results due to the launch of new products in both existing and new markets, resulting in 148,415 sold units, the equivalent of 103% of the 2011 sales.

In an uncertain international forklift market, TICO aims to further strengthen its global position. In 2013, too, TICO will continue to expand its strategies and support sales in its developed and emerging markets to keep its leadership in the industry.
*Domestic market share is calculated based upon Japan Industrial Vehicles Association’s data.
