Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE)’s management and employees stress the importance of strong leadership and workers’ participation for effective risk prevention.
At Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE), the continuous strive to improve the safety of customers and employees, as well as the quality of forklifts and services, is a deeply rooted tradition. Part of TMHE’s philosophy is to share and promote best practice through its partnership with the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EU-OSHA). Together, they campaign in 2012 and 2013 for “Working together for risk prevention”.
In its factories, one of TMHE’s safety initiatives is the unique Safety Dojo concept. This is a dedicated area where employees receive mandatory safety training and learn the best practice to prevent risks.
TMHE also pioneers in giving a structured training program, known as STEP (Service Technician Education Program), to its 4,000 service technicians. This ensures that they are perfectly equipped to perform safe maintenance when visiting customers.
With the Toyota System of Active Stability (SAS) and the SpotMe warning system, for instance, TMHE shows its dedication to developing products and solutions that help customers and employees prevent accidents in the workplace.
“Health and safety are central to our company's long-term commitment to being a reliable business partner and a responsible member of the society. With our customers, and our employees and the global community, we strive to create greater awareness for health and safety. Our collaboration with EU-OSHA, the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work continues to bear fruit and demonstrates that we are safer together,” says Matthias Fischer, President at Toyota Material Handling Europe.
