Safety specialist Pyroban has launched a new 'microsite' to explain the dangers of using forklift trucks in Zone 2 hazardous areas and to demonstrate how to protect workers and a facility from the risk of explosion.
The new site, features real-time 3D animation showing what happens to a forklift truck when it is converted by Pyroban with system6000, the latest explosion proof technology.
Justine Wren, Group Marketing Manager for the Pyroban Group explains "Explosion protection is a complex and highly legislative subject, but we wanted to make it easy for users and suppliers to understand what we do, using the latest digital formats."
Interactive 3D animations of a reach truck and a diesel counterbalance forklift truck reveal key elements of system6000 and the technologies that help prevent an explosion including gas detection. The animation helps explain various explosion protection methods such as restricted breathing enclosures, stainless steel cladding of forks and surface temperature cooling to ensure the engine, motors, brakes, electrics and other components remain below the auto-ignition temperatures of flammable materials.
The site also features video interviews of key personnel from Pyroban explaining how the system works, what is involved in the explosion proof conversion process, how to maintain the equipment and what certification, such as ATEX, actually means.
Pyroban converts forklift trucks and similar mobile equipment so that they cannot cause a fire or explosion when used within industries that process, store and distribute flammable materials.
A gallery of conversions also shows how system6000 has been applied to the latest engine and battery electric truck design particularly VNA, pallet, picking and reach truck designs and other types of equipment, such as cleaning machines, cranes and access platforms.
system6000 includes infrared and pellistor gas sensing options, so that virtually all material handling applications, where there could be a gas or vapour hazard, can be managed with the most appropriate Zone 2 technology.
"We have introduced Gas Selector, a dynamic tool to assist in the identification of the most suitable gas detection. It also explains why." says Justine, adding that using the wrong technology can have devastating consequences.
