The first 40 tonne Tadan-Faun ATF 40G-2 All Terrain crane has arrived in Australia and has been delivered to Ipswich (Brisbane) based crane rental company Crane Hotline.

The new crane includes a 35.2 metre main boom plus a nine metre swingaway extension which can be offset by up to 40 degrees. Power comes from a Mercedes Benz diesel, linked to ZF transmission and steering system.

Crane Hot Line’s managing director, Perry Evans said: “We bought the first 65 tonne Tadano All Terrain crane to arrive in Australia, so you could safely assume from our latest purchase that we are very happy with the Tadano brand. Most of our clients have a need for cranes in the 30 to 50 tonne range.”

“We looked carefully at the charts for a truck crane and the All Terrain and decided that the Tadano ATF 40G-2 was the one for us. It is the ideal unit for our work in general engineering, rigging and civil construction. It is easier than a truck crane around inner city and suburban work sites, but it is on a tight work site where the All Terrain capability comes into its own.”

“This is the third Tadano that we have purchased and we have had a trouble free run with all of them. They are certainly better built than most cranes and carry a good re-sale price when it’s time to trade up to a newer model.”

Jim Evans got into the Crane business in the early 1990’s as an extension to his general engineering business - J.A Evans which he founded in 1965. The company was finding it difficult to source cranes in the Ipswich area, so he bought his own crane – a 12 tonne pick & carry unit. Word spread that there was a crane available in Ipswich and demand followed. The company now runs a fleet of 12 cranes.
