Be it the first on-the-job training for young people, an apprenticeship or a permanent employment – three awards give proof that STILL is one of the best employers in every area of professional life in Germany. The latest award which was presented a few days ago, put the company amongst the top three and awarded it five stars in the competition “Hamburg’s best companies for vocational training”.

It was a premier. Driven by the difficult vocational training market on which qualified potentials are scarce, the Hamburger Abendblatt initiated the competition Hamburg’s best companies for vocational training. In the frame of the competition a total of 49 companies from the Hamburg region were anonymously evaluated by their apprentices. STILL, global supplier of customised internal logistics, was placed third on the winner’s podium at first go and was awarded with five stars … the best evaluation possible. “Our apprentices are our future and they are treated accordingly in our company,” Marc Dechmann, Director of Human Recourses Development at STILL, comments the award which was officially handed over at the end of April.

Also this year, STILL was officially included in the round of Top Employers in the frame of a research study carried out by the CRF Institute (Corporate Research Foundation). Amongst the criteria evaluated by the study are factors such as compensation, benefits, career and development opportunities as well as corporate culture. The companies awarded are referred to as “role models for professional career development”.

One of the first steps on the career ladder often is an on-the-job training – here STILL offers excellent conditions as well. At STILL, on-the-job trainees are seen as colleagues at eye level. Besides the internal trainee policy which ensures that trainees are treated fair and trained comprehensively, STILL is also certified by the so called “Fair Company” seal. The initiative behind the seal originates from the magazine “Junge Karriere” (Young Career) with the goal to ensure fair working conditions on the trainee market. STILL supports this initiative and has voluntarily committed to the five rules given below, beyond the internal principals of attending job trainees:

Permanent jobs are not replaced by trainees, voluntary workers or permanent stand-in employees.

Candidates with a university degree who apply for a permanent job are not put off with a traineeship.

Trainees are not put off with vague promises of a full-time employment.
Traineeships are predominantly offered to provide professional orientation during the vocational training phase.

Trainees are paid adequate compensation.

The awards underline that STILL is among the most attractive and sought after employers in Germany. Against this background it is no surprise that the average period of employment with the company is 16 years.
