A Midlands recycling specialist is celebrating 30 years in business with continued investment in JCB machines. Paul Chapman & Sons, which has bases in Nuneaton and Derby, has just bought a powerful 29-tonne JS290 tracked excavator for use in a variety of roles both on hire to major customers and loading crushers in its own recycling facility.
Owner, Paul Chapman said: “I founded the business 30 years ago with a JCB 3C backhoe and I have supported the brand ever since - currently running ten JCB models in total. When we have tried other manufacturers, they have not been able to match JCB for performance, parts or backup. Our dealer Watling JCB is second to none in that respect. If I ever need parts or support, they get them to me - it’s as simple as that.
“For the latest addition to the fleet we needed the power of a big excavator but one able to work within the confines of our busy recycling yard when needed. The JS290 was the perfect combination of size and performance, giving us the power we need to load heavy materials into crushers handling up to 10,000 tonnes a week. When working out on customer sites it has also proved to be a powerful digging machine.
“For customers requiring materials to be recycled on their own site we offer a complete package comprising of JCB excavator for loading, a crusher and screen and a JCB loading shovel for stockpiling. This makes for the perfect mobile recycling solution.”
Paul Chapman founded the business in 1982 as an owner / operator of a JCB 3C backhoe loader. Since then the business has evolved and expanded into general plant hire and now specialises in crushing, screening and recycling of aggregates, building materials and tarmac. For hire, it offers tracked and wheeled excavators, including JCB JS130, JS145, JS160, JS220 and JS290 models, telescopic handlers, loading shovels and dump trucks along with its mobile crushing and screening plant which provides a nationwide recycling service for construction materials, concrete and tarmac.
In addition to the crushing and screening services provided to customers on site, a range of recycled aggregate is produced at the company’s recycling yard which is based in Spondon, Derbyshire. Materials for sale include: 6F2, Type 1 (Concrete), pipe bedding, fill sand, planings and 100mm clean material.
