Danish rental company Slagelse Liftudlejning has taken delivery of a new 32 metre Falcon FS320Z articulated boom spider lift from TCA Lift.

The unit went straight to work on the Great Belt road bridge, to inspect and maintain the anchor blocks underneath the roadway.

Slagelse Liftudlejning was founded in 1997 and is based in the town of Slagelse on Zealand. The company runs a wide variety of aerial lifts and telehandlers, largely JLG booms and scissors, Denka trailer lifts and Terex telehandlers.

Thomas Lindboe of Slagelse Liftudlejning said: “We had the FS320Z on trial for a week and after that was there several enquiries for it, which resulted in us buying one. One of the enquiries came from a subcontractor on The Great Belt East Bridge, it proved ideal, due to its compact dimensions, particularly the fact that it can reduce its width down to 1.1 metres and also because of its low weight.”

“It was no trouble to hoist it down from the roadway to the anchor blocks with a crane. The East Bridge between Zealand and Sprogø is 6,790 metres long and consists of a sub-structure and a superstructure. The concrete sub-structure comprises pylons, anchor blocks, bridge piers and abutments.

The steel superstructure comprises bridge spans and cables. At 254 metres high the pylons are one of the highest points in Denmark. The FS320Z can, thanks to its jib, reach all corners in the sub-structure of the bridge.”

The FS32-Z was able to reach all parts of the substructure, and yet was light enough to easily lift from the road above
