Having enjoyed five years of trouble-free use from a Kramer 750T wheeled loader, a Devon based livestock farmer had no hesitation in ordering a new 680T model from the same German manufacturer via local dealer Hamblys.

Despite its compact dimensions, the telescopic boom of the 680T provides an impressive lift height of 4680 mm. 

Located near Honiton, 350 acre Firs Farm is run by husband and wife team Deane and Karen Laramy who look after a flock of 250 ewes and a herd of around 400 cattle, including some pure bred Limousins.

“I did look at one or two telehandlers”, explained Mr. Laramy, “But decided I much preferred the space and superb all-round visibility provided by the high level, centrally placed cab of the Kramer design.”

The 4-wheel drive and steer 680T machine chosen this time offers more power and lift capacity which allows it to handle three ‘quadrant’ bales at a time with ease. As the only loader on the farm, the new Kramer is used for a wide variety of regular tasks from handling fertiliser and buck raking to feeding and mucking out.

“The 680T has good ground clearance and the view from the driver’s seat couldn’t be any better”, comments Mr. Laramy, “And I really like the single joystick control which makes operating the machine easy and allows you to fully concentrate on the job in hand.”

Mr. Laramy has also specified Kramer’s Ecospeed option on his new machine which allows it to travel at speeds up to 40 kph in two wheel drive which he finds very useful when longer journeys are necessary.

The 680T is powered by a Deutz diesel engine developing 58kW (79 hp) which is coupled to Kramer’s latest high-pressure hydrostatic transmission which provides up to 23% more tractive force than the previous model.
