Papé Material Handling Inc. said Monday it bought the assets of a rival forklift dealer in Oregon and Washington, effectively allowing Papé Material Handling to sell the Yale line of forklifts in those states, as well as its current Hyster line.

Papé Material Handling, a division of Eugene-based The Papé Group Inc., has moved Pacific’s personnel and inventory in Portland, Eugene and Seattle to its own dealerships in those cities, said Tim Clevenger, Papé’s vice president of marketing and brand management. Pape Material Handling’s Portland store is at 7000 S.W. Sandburg Road.

Besides giving Papé Material Handling a second line of forklifts, the Pacific deal makes it easier for Papé to provide servicing and parts to owners of Yale trucks, Clevenger said.

Papé Group employs about 1,500 people companywide, and 260 in Portland.

The Portland operations include Papé Kenworth truck dealership, Papé Machinery Inc. construction equipment dealership, Papé Rents construction equipment rental store, and Flightcraft, which provides fuel and servicing to private airplanes at Portland International Airport.
