The Dixie Group has reported it had a profit in its fourth quarter of 2010 versus a loss in the same period of 2009.

Dixie said its profit in the latest quarter amounted to $516,000 or four cents a share as compared to a loss of $3.6 million or 29 cents a share in the same quarter of 2009.

The carpet company said it had $65 million in sales during the quarter, up from $52.7 million in the same period of the preceding year.

Dixie said it had a loss in 2010 of $4.6 million or 37 cents a share, smaller than a loss of $42 million or $3.42 per share the year before. Sales in 2010 of $231 million were higher than those of $203 million in 2009.
