Portland,Oregon--3/8/11--A forklift operated by Darryl Entenman of Portland picks up a bowling ball in preparation for a little game of bowling as part of the competition. Darryl works for Boeing. Skilled forklift drivers, both in teams and individually, competed Tuesday in the first ever Columbia Forklift Challenge at the Oregon Governor's Occupational Safety and Health (GOSH) Conference at the Oregon Convention Center. Judges assessed a driver's ability to safely operate a forklift during a variety of timed challenges, including lifting a bowling ball and trying to knock down some pins. The conference, which runs through Thursday, features 140 workshops and training sessions. It is designed to educate managers and workers about safety and health issues.
