As Lord Green Minister for Trade and Investment urges companies to harness economic recovery via export, Thorworld Industries has revealed it has enjoyed a boost in overseas orders.

Over the past 12 months, the Midlands-based loading and unloading specialist has exported equipment from its extensive product range to firms across both West and Eastern Europe and to Africa.

Lord Green was speaking recently in Huntingdon when he told the Hunts Post that he wanted to find out how the Government could help British companies to become a bigger part of the export economy. He said: "...exporting is going to be core to the UK's economic recovery and we need to encourage more UK firms to venture overseas."

And develop its overseas customer base is exactly what Thorworld has done. Amongst the orders received have been three Inflatable Dock Seals and a Drawbridge Ramp Combination for customers in Malta, two Yardramps fitted with electric pumps to Spain, two Mobile Yardramps to Moldova and a Deluxe Mobile Yardramp to Nigeria.

"I'm delighted to hear that the Minister is looking to support British companies in export," said John Meale, managing director of Thorworld Industries. "We have a long history of exporting to Western Europe and are delighted to see our customer base growing in Eastern Europe and Africa.

"The fact that we have developed customer bases both at home and abroad means that when one market is struggling due to economic conditions, another may be in a position to place orders.

"And, whilst competition from low-cost suppliers in China and the Far East initially looked like a potential barrier to export, our overseas customers tell us that Thorworld's engineering excellence, exemplary safety record and unbeatable levels of customer service are all far more attractive than merely a 'bargain basement' price."

Thorworld provides a one-stop, single source for the UK's widest range of high quality loading bay and materials handling equipment, safety aids and accessories, including dock seals and shelters, dock levellers, modular loading docks, dock plates and boards, dock and vehicle bumpers, wheel chocks, vehicle restraints, traffic lights, dock lights, wheel guides and alignment curbs, access ramps, trailer safety jacks and market-leading mobile yardramps - (yardramps are available for purchase or rental, on a sale or return basis, through the company's RentARamp© division) - together with the Truckloada© mobile yardlift and the Dockloada© scissor lift platform.

Firmly established as one of the foremost designers, manufacturers and suppliers to the loading bay and materials handling sectors, Thorworld is recognised as both a market leader and innovator in the supply of quality engineered equipment.

BSI registered with ISO 9002 accreditation since 1992, it was one of the first companies in the industry to achieve the latest international quality management ISO 9001 (2008) standard and now has an extensive list of customers across a wide range of industries and business types, including distribution, logistics, transport, retail, warehousing, food, drink, manufacturing, waste management & recycling and the service sector.
