The Hamburg based fork lift truck manufacturer and intralogistics provider Still won three of the much coveted iF product design awards for counter balance trucks and warehouse equipment. The judging panel was convinced of the advantages offered by the consistent family design of the Still trucks. The awards go to the EXU-SF low lift pallet truck, the EK-X vertical order picker and the RX 70 diesel counter balance fork lift truck. The design is distinctive throughout the family although each truck is designed for a different application.
Christian Baerwolff, Marketing Director at Still, underlines: “With capital equipment, the operators are now seeing more and more value in an appealing design. It is the design that makes the innovative and the functional benefits of the products visible!”
International jury of experts chose the winners
The iF Product Design Award is one of the most coveted and respected design awards world-wide. This year, the international panel of experts chose from 993 winners of the iF Product Design Award out of 2 765 proposals. All of the winners will receive the iF label for the awarded product which is valid throughout the whole life cycle. The iF Product Design Award was awarded for the 57th time. Criteria for the judging panel to choose the winners were quality of the design, make, selection of material, degree of innovation, environmental friendliness, functionality, ergonomics, visualisation of functions, safety, brand value and the aspects of “universal design”.
One line of design for individual applications
Just as with all the other Still products, the design of the RX 70 diesel truck is modular. It is a compact and agile truck with hybrid technology drive components. The energy saving three-phase motor and the fully capsulated, maintenance-free lamellar-type brake offer high performance at low operation costs throughout the lifetime of the product. Large access steps and a long grip handle make sure that getting on and off the truck is safe. The user-friendly work space is equipped with very sensitive and individual hydraulics controls such as mini levers, Joystick or Fingertipp. The over head guard is mounted on suspensions to reduce body vibrations. Slim profiles support the over head guard and provide the driver with an optimum 360 panoramic view.
The EK-X order picker, load capacity up to 1000 kg, is the narrowest truck of its kind on the market. The EK-X excels by its large work space with a unique control concept and state-of-the-art sensor technology for two-hand control. All controls are logically designed to prevent mistakes and are arranged in a user-friendly way. The smooth, fully electric steering allows exact positioning of the truck at the picking location or when stacking pallets. The EK-X series is also designed on a modular basis: chassis widths, height of the over head guard, masts or battery capacities can be selected individually to suit the customer requirement.
The EXU-SF low lift pallet trucks are suitable for horizontal transport of goods. New is the optional “combi-tiller” for fast and safe handling of loads. It makes sure the operator is always at the optimum distance from the truck when the stand-on platform is open or folded away. The hinged side guards are fitted with large, durable upholstering and hold the driver safely on the stand-on platform when cornering. The driver can adjust the side guards individually to his body height. The platform is suspended by a patented dampening system which can be individually adjusted to the weight of the driver. This perfectly protects the driver from vibrations and shocks from bumps in the road.
