HOUSTON (October 25, 2010) - Cat Lift Trucks, a leading provider of quality and reliable lift trucks, has announced the company will award two Houston-area high school students each with a $5,000 scholarship towards their higher education pursuits in Texas.

This marks the seventh year Cat Lift Trucks will award local students with scholarship funds, having distributed $53,000 to deserving high school seniors to date. Applicants to the scholarship program must plan to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering or a business-related field at an accredited college, university or technical school in the state of Texas.

"As part of our commitment to enriching the community, Cat Lift Trucks believes in supporting exceptional local students by helping provide the tools necessary to achieve their educational dreams," said Jeff Rufener, vice president of marketing for Cat Lift Trucks. ""We are pleased to continue the Cat Lift Trucks scholarship program, assisting local students in their pursuit of a higher education."

Scholarship recipients will be announced in February and will be honored at a reception at the 2011 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™. This marks the seventh consecutive year that Cat Lift Trucks will serve as the Official Lift Truck Provider for the Show. In conjunction with local dealer, Adobe Equipment Inc., Cat Lift Trucks provides up to 100 lift trucks to be used throughout the Show, which hosts more than 1.8 million visitors each year.

 Cat Lift Trucks, headquartered in Houston, is a leading manufacturer of quality and reliable lift trucks dedicated to providing excellent customer service.
 
WHAT:
 Cat Lift Trucks will award two Houston-area high school seniors each with a $5,000 scholarship for their higher education pursuits. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college, university or technical school within the state of Texas and major in mechanical engineering or a business-related field.

Students from public and/or private schools within Harris, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller counties are eligible to apply. Recipients will be chosen based on academic record, leadership, honors, narrative responses and participation in school and community activities.
 
WHEN:
 Deadline - applications must be postmarked by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011. This year's scholarship recipients will be honored at the Houston Livestock Show and RodeoTM in March 2011.
