Since the announcement in April of the first World Crane Auction, more than 80 cranes have been consigned for sale.

The online auction is an Iron Planet event in association with KHL Group and the first sale is on 16 June 2010.

A number of cranes have already been sold, IronPlanet said, at an average unit price of US290,000. Consignments were continuing to come in at the time of writing on 20 May. Places where the cranes have been consigned from include Germany, the UK, Spain, Ireland, Iceland and 23 US states.

Crane types include all terrains, crawlers, rough terrains, truck mounted and tower cranes. Looking at the top of the capacity range of cranes in the first sale, there is a 300 tonne Liebherr LTM 1300 wheeled mobile and a 272 tonne capacity Link-Belt 348 Hylab5 lattice crawler. Others include a 250 tonne capacity Kobelco lattice crawler and a 200 tonne Terex AC 200 all terrain.
