FLEXILIFT Australia claims rapid warehouse downsizing means companies will eventually replace counterbalance and reach forklift trucks with flexible narrow aisle units.
According to Flexilift, Australian distributor of the Flexi narrow aisle forklift, European warehouses have downsized due to inhibitive cost factors. It is said this will soon be paralleled in Australia and New Zealand.
Flexilift National Business Development manager John Fisher says European auto components supplier Magna Intier has recently purchased Flexi narrow aisle forklifts for its warehouse.
Mr Fisher claims this is an example of the logistics solution Australia will soon see.
“In the modern factory and warehouse operation, a major factor is the cost per square metre of floor space, so our companies are now more commonly adopting the European solution of squeezing more out of limited floor space, narrowing corridors and turning points and taking racking higher than ever before,” Mr Fisher said.
According to Flexilift, the Flexi narrow aisle forklift has reduced Magna Intier’s forklift fleet operating costs and increased storage capacity by 25% compared to the reach truck solution.
