EX Safety company, Pyroban Corp., has announced that it will now offer EX conversions on USED equipment in North America. The move will help end users improve the safety of their existing equipment fleet without incurring the financial burden of buying new hazardous location certified equipment.
Pyroban Corp., based in Bloomfield, NJ, provides explosion risk management solutions for industries that produce, handle or store flammable gases, liquids or powders. As a global provider of explosion protection for all leading brands of forklift trucks, Pyroban previously only converted NEW forklifts for US operations.
Robert Zuiderveld, General Manager of Pyroban Corp. explains; “Powered industrial trucks were the number three reason for OSHA violations according to the OSHA Dust emphasis progress report published last year. In the current economy, the financial burden to small and mid size companies who are told to replace and upgrade entire equipment fleets can be devastating and the alternative of facing OSHA “will full intent” citations or experiencing a catastrophic event are not much more appealing. Working with these companies to establish a fleet management program and allowing them source equipment from the existing fleet for conversion can mean the continued operation of a company while reducing their exposure to fires and explosions”.
Forklift trucks have the potential to ignite flammable atmospheres through hot surfaces, the electrics, static and numerous other sources such as the engine. Pyroban conversions provide either ACTIVE or PASSIVE protection ensuring that the equipment cannot be the source of an ignition.
“We have certified solutions for a wide range of powered industrial equipment including forklifts, sweepers, wheel loader, skid steers, man lifts etc. After the appropriate Pyroban solution has been installed the equipment can be safely operated in Class I, Divisions 1 or 2, Class II, Divisions 1 or 2, Zone 1, Zone 2 , Zone 21 or Zone 22 hazardous locations.” Zuiderveld says.
Pyroban Corp. will offer conversions on used equipment following an OEM dealer equipment assessment. If the equipment has been maintained by an OEM dealer, it must be less than 2-3 years old, but if the lift truck is refurbished and factory recertified, Pyroban may accept units that are 4-6 years old.
“Most recent diesel and electric forklifts can be converted, but we stipulate that they must be in good working condition and be shipped to us clean and free of any contaminants, toxic or allergen materials”.
“Pyroban can help businesses minimise their capital expenditure and improve safety by utilizing their existing equipment and making it safe” concludes Zuiderveld.
