2009 marks the Silver anniversary of Jungheinrich UK Ltd’s Systems and Projects and Division. With extensive experience in manual, semi-automated and fully-automated installations, Jungheinrich’s Systems and Projects Division provides racking and storage schemes, semi-automated and fully-automated systems - including aisle changing stacker crane projects, VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) forklift trucks and integrated solutions.

The Division, which operates out of Warrington and Milton Keynes, was established in 1984 and over the past 25 years has established itself as a highly regarded systems integrator and materials handling solutions provider. During this time Jungheinrich has successfully designed and implemented a wide range of contracts to a host of blue chip clients in a diverse range of industries.

Steve Richmond, general manager of Jungheinrich UK Ltd’s Systems and Projects Division, comments: “For any multi-product project to be successful – and this goes for all applications, regardless of their size – it is essential to choose a system provider capable of integrating a range of solutions. Only if the client’s project partner has access to a varied product portfolio that allows manual, semi-automated or fully automated systems to be considered and, ultimately, specified, will optimum efficiency stand any chance of being achieved.

“Too often, it seems, multi-product systems are designed around the limited range of equipment that the supplier is able to offer and so, instead of ending up with an integrated facility that is designed around the specific application, users get something that has been planned primarily to accommodate a supplier’s restricted collection of handling equipment.

“Jungheinrich’s Systems & Projects Division offers a unique proposition by offering an entire range of materials handling and storage solutions, whether manual, semi-automated or fully-automated, from one single source. The key differentiator is that we have developed a competence based approach to our structure that ensures that we have all the requisite skills, knowledge and expertise ‘In house’. We can specify, design implement and project manage applications tailor made for our customers’ specific application. All of this is backed up by nationwide after-sales support.”

Having a wide range of  products – from pallet trucks to racking through to fully automated systems has certainly contributed to Jungheinrich’s success, but products alone do not automatically guarantee the most efficient or optimised solution, as Steve Richmond explains: “To ensure that the most appropriate system is provided, integrators need to develop a thorough understanding of the client company’s business process and supply chain demands – not only as they are now, but also as they will be in the future.

“We have been – and will continue to be – successful, because we place great emphasis on delivering successful turnkey projects through a combination of competence, commitment and a consistent approach to providing the right logistics solution for every job.”
