Cargotec has won its first commercial contract - an order from
Lockheed Martin will use the CPS spreader-mounted scanning system to complete integration testing of the company's Container Scanning System. The CPS system will be used as part of Lockheed Martin's integrated technology solutions portfolio. The CPS system is planned to be installed and tested at a United States East coast port during 2009.
The CPS equipment purchased by Lockheed Martin will feature a ship-to-shore crane spreader outfitted with Cargotec Port Security technology to scan containers while the spreader is in transit. Scanning during the movement of the container will not compromise overall terminal productivity. This technology can be installed on crane spreaders, straddle carriers or other mobile equipment, such as on marine vessels engaged in security operations.
The Cargotec Port Security system purchased by Lockheed Martin has been awarded Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT) Designation from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Receipt of QATT Designation followed the successful Department of Energy Oak Ridge evaluation, in which the Cargotec Port Security spreader solution demonstrated 100 percent accuracy, with zero false positives and zero false negatives.
