The Jungheinrich Special Solutions first launched in 2007 for moving cars quickly and safely are gaining popularity in the automotive sector. They provide small and medium sized body makers with an attractive business solution.

Jungheinrich based the design of its customized car transporter on the low platform truck and it is fast gaining recognition in the automotive industry. The vehicle was first deployed at the Opel-owned General Motors Powertrain-Germany GmbH and is now used by other car manufacturers such as VW and BMW for moving cars within the plant. Jungheinrich’s Special Solution was developed to move cars through production areas safely and with zero emissions.

“We are naturally delighted with the positive market feedback“, says Stefan Hirt, Jungheinrich’s Head of Product Management for Special Solutions. Basically this is a machine tailored to the needs of a single client or industry, such as the automotive sector. “With some fine tuning the Jungheinrich car transporter is the perfect fit for use in body shops and car dealerships“, says Stefan Hirt.

This customized car transporter was developed and produced at the special facility in Lüneberg. The drive component is from a traditional Jungheinrich low platform truck – available in pedestrian and on-board mode. Using the newly developed special fork configuration, one can slide the fork underneath a car from the front, back or in the middle, secure both wheels, and lift the vehicle to transport it. Using a hydraulic length regulator, the EJE 218’s special fork configuration (payload capacity: 1,800 kilograms) can be adjusted to suit the wheel overhangs of nearly all common cars and vans.
