Annual Meeting 2008 of China Association of Warehouse and Storage (CAWS) and Forum of Sino-American Modern Warehousing Industry Development was held in China International Science and Technology Convention Center（CISTCC）in Beijing on September 23^rd, 2008. This meeting was sponsored by CAWS, Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), and co-organized by Beijing Lujie Cultural Communications Co., Ltd. As Zhejiang Hangcha Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd. was the patron, nearly hundreds of guests took part in the meeting, among which forklift manufacturers such as Hyster and Crown had stands to exhibit their products. The meeting was opened with the address of Shen Shaoji, the President of CAWS, followed by the speeches respectively by President of China Chengtong Group Hong Shuikun, President of COSCO Logistics Co., Ltd. Ye Weilong and General Manager of China National Foreign Trade Transportation (Group) Corporation (SINOTRANS) Xiao Xing. Consequently, President of CAWS Shen Shaoji made a general report on the development of warehousing industry in China during 2007, declaiming that according to the statistic data 2007 was a great year during which warehousing industry realized the fastest development. It was unclosed by National Bureau of Statistics of China that in 2007, the fixed assets investment of logistics and relevant fields was amount to RMB 1.4281 trillion Yuan with a year-on-year increase of 24.7%, of which the absolute value lagged far behind transportation industry, trade industry, processing and distribution industry while on the other hand, the increasing ratio was 4% higher than the average and 7% than that of transportation industry. Seeing from the general status of China national economic development and the basic situation of warehousing industry development in recent years, we believed that warehousing industry is prospective to march forward into a newly high-speed development period and make breakthroughs in terms of facility construction, business expansion and operation management while the fixed assets investment and operation scale will continue to enlarge marginally and the economic profit will be enhanced yearly as the value-added service goes further.

Then, professionals from different associations and companies made reports related to warehousing, such as Mr. Michael Mikitka’s research report Development Tendency of American Warehousing Industry, President of China Chain Store & Franchise Association Ms. Guo Geping’s Status and Development of Retail Logistics Distribution and Development of Dangerous Commodity Warehousing in China reported by Mr. Pu Xianglin from  CAWS Dangerous Product Storage Institute, Status Analysis and Outlooks of Low Temperature Storage Industry by Mr. Liu Longchang from CAWS Cold Storage Institute and Report on Development Status and Tendency of Logistics Infrastructure in China by Mr. Zhou Zhijie from ProLogis Co., Ltd. China Branch.

On Sep. 24^th, the meeting held discussion circling the theme of analysis on warehouse construction and investment returns. After the meeting, the guests were invited to visit Tongzhou Logistics Industrial Park, Suning Logistics Base in Northern China, Beijing Chaopi Commerce and Trade Automated Sorting Storage and Beijing East Express Logistics Co., Ltd.
