Forklift truck manufacturer Jungheinrich UK Ltd has donated a three-wheel counterbalanced lift truck to MK SNAP – a Milton Keynes charity that works with adults with learning and physical disabilities.

MK SNAP runs a workshop providing an opportunity for the disabled to participate in a number of tasks, including the production of simple wooden goods, product assembly and packing as well as mail-shot projects. The work undertaken helps to build the skills and, in turn, the confidence and self-esteem of those that attend the SNAP facility.

The lift truck will be used to load and unload materials delivered to the SNAP workshop and Jungheinrich has also undertaken to service the forklift and provide driver training free of charge.

Jungheinrich UK Ltd's divisional sales manager, Stephen Baines and the company's local sales manager, Tracie Ward, recently delivered the truck to SNAP.

Stephen Baines commented: "We are delighted to support such a worthwhile organization and hope that in some small way we have contributed to the excellent work the SNAP does within our community."

Sally Fennemore, MK Snap's fundraising co-ordinator, commented: "Having a forklift will make a tremendous difference to our operation. Previously we could only accept large deliveries by vehicles with a taillift; which restricted what we could accept and who we could work with. Having a fork lift will open up more opportunities and gives us much more flexibility and independence."
