In recent years, Yuchai kept the leading market share of electronic-controlled engines in the industry, and the pioneered Yuchai engines has been recognized by the professional among the industry. In the passenger car field, Yuchai heavy-duty electronic-controlled engines have been the first choice for the product promotion of passenger car enterprises; Yuchai State-III heavy-duty electronic-controlled engines have served in the reception work of Two Meetings with greatest challenges, while Yuchai State-IV heavy-duty electronic-controlled engines are also listed into the special model for Beijing Olympics Reception Vehicles. More prospective electronic-controlled Technology

In 1995, Yuchai undertook the 9^th Five-Year project of Researching & Developing Electronic In-Line Pump-Pipe-Valve-Injector (PPVI) Engines from State Science and Technology Commission, starting the course of Yuchai diesel electronic-controlled technology leading the industry. In 1999, Yuchai began to develop electronic-controlled high-pressure engines, and started bi-fuel engines development project during the same period. The proceeding of the three projects injected necessary new technologies and forces for the successful development of Yuchai electronic-controlled engines, and laid the foundation for Yuchai electronic-controlled engine technology to lead the industry.

In 2004, a small batch of Yuchai heavy-duty electronic-controlled engines were put into Shenzhen bus market, 2 years in advance of other enterprises in the industry realizing batch sales of electronic-controlled engines. In the end of 2005, Yuchai accomplished another undertaking as YC6L-40 passed STATE-IV emission level certification, 5 years earlier than the implementation of state relevant regulations. In 2007, YC6L-50 STATE-V electronic-controlled engines were produced, affirming that the routine of electronic-controlled technology was more vital.  

Electronic-controlled products with higher technological contents

New-generated YC6MK, YC6M, YC6L and YC6A heavy-duty electronic-controlled engines have been integrated advanced technologies of four air valves and in-cylinder brake. The application of four air valves has greatly enlarged the air inlet and outlet area of engines, improving the air inlet and outlet efficiency while reducing the noise. The built-in injector makes the atomization of fuel oil more even and the combustion more complete so as to save energy and reduce emission. The in-cylinder brake technology is favorable for improving the brake efficiency of the vehicle to enable the vehicle safer and prolong the use cycle of brake pad and brake hub, which also can improve the vehicle operation performance and reduce the maintenance cost of brake systems.

Calibration technology is the core of electronic-controlled engines development work, while sophisticated electronic-controlled system integration technology is also a notable feature for Yuchai electronic-controlled technology. All the electronic-controlled system applied in Yuchai included electronic-controlled common rail system, electronic-controlled single pump system, electronic-controlled in-line pump system and electronic-controlled gas system, of which various electronic-controlled technologies were applied together gave birth to the electronic-controlled engines with higher technological contents. The calibration of Yuchai electronic-controlled engines is more refined, completed, safe, mature and close to the use requirements of the customers as electronic-controlled fuel oil system can realize high-pressure injection within the rotation speed scale of the engines while fulfill three-stage fuel oil injection of pre-injection, main-injection and post-injection, even multi-stage injection, which uses ECU computer to flexibly and accurately control the oil quantity and injection time, reducing the emission of diesel PM and NOx as well as ensuring excellent power and economical fuel oil consumption.

Equipped with a lot of functions such as closed loop control at idle speed, starting movement compensation control, oil cut control when slowing down, cylinders work balance control, engine protection control, noise control, vehicle communication control, combined control of power unit (auto transmission and ABS), vehicle door control, PTO control and fault diagnosis, Yuchai electronic-controlled engines realized historic breakthrough of oil-saving, eco-friendly, comfort and safety.

More reasonable product combination

The integration of resource advantages among YC6MK, YC6M, YC6L and YC6A engines are favorable for manufacturing engines specifically for heavy-duty truck manufacturing enterprises so as to ensure more reasonable power matching for the trucks. With large emission and strong power, YC6MK and YC6M of 10.3 L and 9.8 L respectively are suitable for 6*4 tractors, 8*4/6*4 dumpers and 8*4/6*4 cement mixers; YC6L and YC6A of light weight, low oil consumption and maintenance cost are suitable for mid-and-low duty trucks for reducing their operation costs; YC6L of 8.4 L with 260-330 horsepower are suitable for mid-duty highway trucks such as 6*2 and 8*4 carriers while YC6A of 7.2L with 240-280 horsepower are suitable for light-duty highway trucks such as 4*2 and 8*4 carriers.

Yuchai also developed heavy-duty gas electronic-controlled engines and currently the quantity has exceeded 1000 sets. On June 14^th, 2008 Yuchai Gas Engine Customer Communication Conference taking Eco-Friendly, Energy-saving & New Energy as the theme was held in Sanya in Hainan Province. At the exhibition, a YC6M four air valve electronic-controlled engine showed that Yuchai heavy-duty gas electronic-controlled engines gained synchronous development. According to Vice-General Manager of Yuchai , this model was applied advanced four air valve technology and electronic-controlled technology with obvious low gas consumption, and has been exported in small batch. In China, there are two heavy-duty enterprises are about to put heavy-duty trucks equipped with such model of engines onto market. Under the background of raising finished oil price and frequent oil shortage, electronic-controlled gas engines still have relatively wide developing prospects.

More excellent product inheritance

Yuchai State-III heavy-duty electronic-controlled engines are developed on the basis of non-electronic-controlled engines such as YC6M, YC6L and YC6A, while State-V and State-IV heavy-duty engines are promoted and developed based on State-III products, of which electronic-controlled system possess excellent inheritance. Moreover, the external connection dimensions of State-V, State-IV and State-II heavy-duty electronic-controlled engines vary little to non-electronic-controlled engines, which is helpful to fasten the promotion and development of vehicle manufacturing enterprises while reduce the product promotion cost and decision risk of vehicle companies. Meanwhile, electronic-controlled engines and non-electronic-controlled engines generally use the same parts, which can be convenient for the customers to maintain the engines.
