Jungheinrich UK Ltd has agreed a sole supplier deal with plant and tool hire specialists GAP Group Ltd to provide lift trucks to all of GAP Group's 58 depot locations across the UK. An initial order for 20 trucks was delivered during April and the remaining sites will receive their forklifts during 2008/9.

The trucks supplied are 3500kg capacity diesel-powered counterbalanced machines.

At GAP Group's depots the forklifts will be used in the loading and unloading of a wide range of general plant, tools and equipment carried by their own vehicles and those of both their suppliers and customers.

Ken Stewart, Gap's Group Procurement Manager, commented: "We asked our depot foremen to devise a specification that outlines the material handling requirements within our depots. Each of them participated in conducting field evaluation trials with a number of leading European and Japanese manufacturers. The Jungheinrich model was the foremen's first choice thanks, among other things, to the comfort it provided. We look forward to a successful, long-term partnership with the Jungheinrich."
