Moosburg (Bavaria) production site to be enlarged via a new factory

Hamburg—Jungheinrich, one of the world’s leading material handling equipment and logistics solutions suppliers, is expanding its production capacity. Jungheinrich Moosburg GmbH plans to build a new warehousing and system equipment plant in the Degernpoint commercial and industrial area in the immediate vicinity of the company’s existing manufacturing site in Moosburg. Construction is scheduled to start this year, with commissioning envisioned by the end of 2009.

Jungheinrich expects the market to continue growing in the years to come and is adapting its production capacity to this situation in good time. An autonomous centre of excellence for warehousing and system equipment is to be set up in the Degernpoint commercial and industrial estate near Moosburg. These trucks are currently being produced in the main plant in Moosburg, whose manufacturing capacity cannot be expanded any further. Some 40 million euros have been earmarked for the construction project, most of which will be spent in 2009.

The first step will entail Jungheinrich acquiring a property in the Degernpoint industrial area covering just over 60,000 square meters from the City of Moosburg. Plans for the new plant, which envision a significant increase in manufacturing capacity and a further rise in productivity, are so advanced that construction activity is expected to begin in the third quarter of this year.

About 1,000 Jungheinrich employees work at the Moosburg location at present, 300 of whom are assigned to the warehousing and system truck division. They will move to the new Degernpoint site, which is almost four kilometres away, once production commences there. Jungheinrich counterbalanced trucks will continue to be manufactured at the main Moosburg plant.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is a logistics service provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems and services covering the entire field of intralogistics. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
