Nissan Motor, NEC and NEC Tokin announced the production plan of motor lithium ion battery made by the joint-ventured enterprise Automotive Energy Supply (AESC). In the next three years, 12 billion Yen to build new production line in Nissan’s workshops. It is planned till 2009, the output can meet the demands of 13,000 mixed power vehicles and electric automobiles (1600,000 as per the battery unit) and will be able to offer for 65,000 automobiles.

Nissan will firstly equip AESC lithium ion battery on the small-sized forklift that will be put on the market in 2009 to replace the former lead battery. Then, such AESC lithium battery will be equipped on all the electric automobiles and mixed power vehicles in America and Japan.

As for the question whether they will export the battery, the President of AESC said that they would not disclose the sales proportion while there will be a lot of customers, indicating the sales possibility. The President also said that the company will provide lithium ion battery for American Project Better Place Company to apply the battery in the infrastructure project of electric automobiles planning to build in Belgium and Israel.

Besides, the President also showed the three features of lithium ion battery: (1) as the positive pole uses Mn, it is safer; (2) using laminated structure, it can reduce cost; (3) as it has been conducted automobile suitability test, it is more reliable.
