The sale of Raynor Manufacturing Co.'s former garage-door manufacturing and distribution facility in Duncan could bring more jobs to Spartanburg County.

Accosys Inc., a national distributor of forklifts and related parts, has purchased the 198,000-square-foot Raynor building and 23 acres at 175 Spartangreen Blvd. for $6.6 million, according to CoStar Group, a commercial real estate news source.

Raynor shuttered the facility in June and laid off 46 employees who worked there in order to streamline its production and shipping operations.

The closing came two years after the company announced it was adding 70-80 jobs and an additional $3.5 million in capital investment at the Duncan facility, which opened in 2000.

Since Raynor vacated, the building has been listed as being for sale on numerous economic development Web sites including the S.C. Department of Commerce and Upstate Alliance.

Accosys employs 390 people at its locations in Kansas, California, Indiana, Canada and Mexico, and about 1,400 people worldwide.

It makes about 5,500 daily shipments to 15,000 customers.

Teresia Knight of NAI Capital in Ontario, Calif., worked with Jon Good of HAI Earl Furman in Greenville to represent the buyer.

The seller was represented by Howard Fertman of Pennsylvania-based Hart Corp.

Knight, Good and Fertman could not be reached Thursday, nor could Royce Albright, Accosys' regional manager for the Southeast.
