WorkSafe New Zealand recommends the use of active detection around mobile equipment and are promoting this at their Forklift Safety Roadshow that kicked off in February.

The roadshow has received significant interest, with all nine events fully booked and over 2,200 attendees registered to attend. Due to the overwhelming response WorkSafe are looking at adding extra dates to reach even more businesses.

Invited by WorkSafe, Seen Safety Ltd(SEEN) are demonstrating their IRIS 860 pedestrian detection technology to all Roadshow attendees. SEEN's co-founder and CEO Michael Scott, says that when developing the IRIS 860 sensor, his guiding mantra was: "Simple, Effective, Affordable. If a safety system isn't all three, it won't be a viable long term solution," he says.

One of the biggest issues with implementing new safety technology is the impact it has on the daily operation of a business. SEEN's IRIS 860 has minimal operational impact as it detects the high-visibility gear already worn by workers, transforming it into part of an active safety system.

Mr Scott says "Don't take my word for it. Contact us and we can put you in touch with one of our customers, or organise a trial so you can see how well it works in your business."

Built for use on all types of heavy mobile plant, the IP67 rated sensor has a customisable, targeted detection zone to minimise irrelevant alerts.
