At this year‘s MobiliTec, Linde Material Handling will be presenting three vehicles that could hardly be more different: a motorised carriage from AAGLAND GmbH & Co. KG inspired by classic coach designs, a hybrid sweeper for city centres developed by French manufacturer Val’Air S.A.S. and the microMAX, the “vehicle for the (car-sharing) App” by Swiss car visionary Frank M. Rinderknecht. Different as they are, the three vehicles have one thing in common: They are all equipped with drive solutions based on a Linde eco-Kit, just like the electric Karabag New 500 E city car that will also be on display on the exhibition stand. The eco-Kits represent modular integrated solutions consisting of an electric motor, a power module, a control unit with software that the company has been offering to customers for the electrification of mobile and stationary applications since the 2012 Automechanika trade show.

“As was the case with the New 500 E, the microMAX and other applications in the past, these two new vehicle concepts show that our whole package – tried and tested components from the mass production of our electric forklift trucks on one hand and the proven system competence of our engineers in the Electronic Systems & Drives division on the other – is convincing and finds its market,” Theodor Maurer, CEO of Linde Material Handling, sums up. Europe’s leading manufacturer of electric counterbalance trucks has been offering the expertise in electric drive technology gained over the past 40 years to customers under its “eMotion” brand since 2010.

The Electronic Systems & Drives (ES&D) unit was established to take care of all associated tasks and is now a part of the independent New Business & Products division at Linde Material Handling. The division’s Vice President Maik Manthey has a clear idea of potential ES&D customers: “We are the ideal partner for companies that are looking for absolutely reliable drive solutions for their applications that provide highly flexibly integration so that they can quickly develop them to suitability for everyday use and thus to market maturity,“ explains Manthey. “We ensure this by offering perfectly matched components that can be adjusted to almost any specific requirement – no matter whether the main focus is on speed, precision or power performance.” Thanks to mass production technology that has proved its worth a million times over, these components are highly cost-effective and are continually undergoing further development with regard to best possible energy efficiency.

Linde eco-Kits are available in pre-built variants S, M and L that provide maximum power of 16, 32 and 50 kilowatts respectively. Even though the kits have been used mainly for the electrification of drive units so far, they can also be deployed for other applications – including stationary examples such as photovoltaic or solar heating systems. Other conceivable uses include the electric design of auxiliary drives for air-conditioning systems and hydraulic pumps and compressors in trucks, busses and other large commercial vehicles.
