On July 30, 2012, Wuhu National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone was permeated with joyous atmosphere, where Chery Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. held an opening ceremony for the new forklift factory. Leaders from the domestic forklift industry and superiors of Chery Automobile attended the ceremony, including Zhang Jie the Secretary General of Industrial Truck Institution of China Construction Machinery Association (CITA for short), Zhang Zhihong the Director of Management Committee of Wuhu National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone and Secretary of Yijiang District Party Committee, Xi Nanshan the Deputy Director of Management Committee of Wuhu National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone and Director of Yijiang People’s Government, Hu Guangfu the Office Director of Management Committee of Wuhu National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone and Planning and Construction Bureau, Yin Tongyue the Chairman of the Board of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. and Hu Xuejun the Vice General Manager of Chery Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., who unclosed the certain for the opening ceremony of the new factory in which 30000 sets of forklifts would be put into production.

Zhang Jie the Secretary General of Industrial Truck Institution of China Construction Machinery Association (CITA for short) told the media that the industrial vehicle industry in China had entered the best period of development. Chery, one of the leading companies standing for national self-owned brands had always created miracles. She expressed her hope that Chery forklifts could continue to go forward towards the goal of establishing new industrial standards, building excellent national brands and undertaking the mission of rejuvenating the industrial truck industry.

Zhang Zhihong, the Director of Management Committee of Wuhu National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone and Secretary of Yijiang District Party Committee said that it was proud to own such an excellent enterprise like Chery in Wuhu Hi-Tech Zone. He encouraged Chery to stand at the new starting point, through gathering the efforts of all the workers to progress forward and grasp the developing opportunities, contributing more on the economic development in Wuhu City and Yijiang District as well.Chery Forklift stepped into a brand-new developing stage in 2012. Based on Chery’s Twelfth Five-year Planning and 2020 strategy, Chery Forklift signed contracts for strategic cooperation together with a number of dealers who were of strong developing ability and sufficient service sources on the ceremony site, to realize win-win during the process of pushing forward sustainable development of business expansion.

The guests on the ceremony witnessed the grand moment. This would be written into the history of Chery Forklift, Chery Automobile and also into the development history of Wuhu City. Chery Forklift would innovate and expand further with the support of Wuhu Municipal Party Committee, Wuhu Municipal Government and leaders of different departments, trying the best to feed back the community with more social and economic benefits under the leadership of Chery Group.

Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. was founded in 1997 by five of Anhui’s local state owned investment companies with an initial capitalization of RMB 3.2 billion. Plant construction commenced on March 18, 1997 in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China. The first car came off the production line on December 18, 1999.
