JCB TRANSMISSIONS TEAM RAISES £5,000 FOR NSPCC CHILDREN'S CHARITY

A team of JCB employees has raised £5,000 for the NSPCC through a series of events including a charity auction and a dinner.

The 12 members of the Materials Department at JCB Transmissions, Wrexham, staged the events after persuading a number of local businesses, hotels, restaurants, adventure clubs and JCB suppliers to donate prizes free of charge.

The charity auction was held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Wrexham, with tickets being sold for a three-course meal supported by local band, Alibis.

Auction lots included signed football and rugby shirts, days out at horse racing venues, hotel and leisure breaks, go-karting and bowling tickets and restaurant vouchers. A total of £5,000 has been raised for the NSPCC, which will go towards supporting the Wrexham and North Wales region and will help to save babies and young children from serious abuse and harm.

Helen Hone, JCB Transmissions Manager for Planning, Materials and Logistics said: “Everyone in the Materials Department has done extremely well working in their own time to source the auction items and raise the money.

"The team work of the department was tremendous and they truly showed their JCB spirit to drive ticket sales until the very end of the evening. A big thank you must also go out to our suppliers and other local companies and organisations for their generous donations. The night was very successful and we were overwhelmed by the support from the local community. The money is going to an extremely good cause which has spurred everybody on to raise as much as possible.”

Among the businesses and organisations who donated prizes were Rednal Karting, Rookery Hall, Nantwich, Quay Spa Hotel, Deganwy, Bangor on Dee Race Course, Llandudno Theatre and Uttoxeter Race Course.

JCB Transmissions is based at the Wrexham Industrial Estate, on Abenbury Road, and manufacturers gear boxes and axles for use on JCB machines and for other companies.
